A lot of artist make the mistake of grabbing whatever when it comes to equipment due to having no patience and a lack of research. Your choice of mic is very important. Make sure your using a proper interface such as the Digi box, and grab a quality pre-amp if needed. Some good programs to use for music production include: Pro-Tools, Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar, and Reaper. Make sure you have good monitors to hear your work. Very important. If you don't have experience mixing and mastering find an engineer that does great work for a good price. In the meanwhile practice. Choose your recording area wisely.
